Established in 1993, the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Program legally grants permanent citizenship and a passport to mid- and high-net-worth individuals and families worldwide. The process takes just four to six months and requires no travel to Dominica.
The Benefits of Dominica Citizenship and a Dominica Passport
attainmentDominican nationalityIt not only gives investors greater economic freedom, but also affords greater latitude in business operations and risk management. By holding Dominica citizenship, an investor no longer needs to rely solely on their original nationality, nor worry about risks spreading overseas for political or judicial reasons. As a result, investors are better able to protect themselves and their families from unexpected losses. At the same time, Dominica citizenship offers investors greater flexibility and choice in responding to varying economic conditions and risks (read:The Top 10 Advantages of a Dominica Passport: Unlocking Global Opportunity). Acquiring Dominica citizenship is therefore a sound decision that offers investors greater economic and political diversification.
Another important reason is thatAcquiring Dominica citizenship enhances the convenience and privacy of international travel. Even if you are a wealthy individual of high standing in business or a senior government official, international travel can become difficult when your original nationality is associated with security concerns, a large low-income population, or diplomatic complications. With Dominica citizenship, you can travel freely to most developed countries without applying for a tourist visa in advance, and this greater international mobility enhances your quality of life.Whether you are relocating to another country, attending a wedding abroad, joining a business meeting in London, holidaying in Switzerland, visiting your child at university in Singapore, or seeking treatment at a hospital in Europe, Dominican citizenship lets you travel the world quickly and with ease.Covers the entire European Union (EU) and the Schengen Area.(View Dominica Passport Visa-Free Countries). As a citizen of a Commonwealth country such as Dominica, you can also more readily obtain business visas or residency in other Commonwealth nations such as Canada or Australia. In addition, Dominica citizenship opens the door to third-country residency and offshore company structures, giving you the flexibility to navigate differing economic conditions and risks. Third-country residency provides a secure haven at home and abroad and can enhance your quality of life, while an offshore company can help you achieve financial freedom and strengthen both wealth protection and privacy. By acquiring Dominica citizenship, therefore, you gain not only greater ease and confidentiality in international travel, but also a range of further financial and lifestyle benefits.

The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU), which sits within the Ministry of Finance, administers all aspects of this citizenship and passport program and ensures that only qualified applicants are accepted. The principal applicant must be at least 18 years of age and must meet all requirements.

A Dominica passport requires a sound reputation and a clean, unblemished background.
The Dominica Citizenship by Investment Program accepts only applicants of good character and standing. To safeguard the Commonwealth of Dominica's reputation worldwide, the country grants citizenship certificates solely to applicants (and their family members) of impeccable repute. The Government of Dominica engages a leading due diligence firm to vet every applicant over the age of 16. Citizenship is granted only to applicants who hold a clean police clearance certificate and whose source of wealth is lawful. Once citizenship is granted, the applicant may apply to the Government for a Dominica passport.

St. Lucia and Antigua are both new programs whose stability and government commitment remain in doubt. Grenada offers access to the U.S. E2 visa, but the chances of reaching the U.S. via Grenada's E2 have dropped sharply of late.
