The first bottled rum product, Belfast Special, evolved into the popular D-Special Rum in the mid-1960's. The product was available in two variants - white and dark in 750 ml bottles - and later in 375 ml bottles, but due to the decline of the sugarcane industry and the high cost of sugar cane, it evolved into the use of molasses and later fermented sugar, and in the 1970's Red Cap Rum and Egg Punch were introduced. Red Cap Rum and Egg Punch were introduced in the 1970s. In 1980 Soca Rum was introduced as a "celebratory spirit", and in 1988 Dominicans celebrated the 10th anniversary of Britain's independence from the United Kingdom.Belfast EstatesA limited edition 10th Anniversary Reunion Rum was successfully launched. In February 2007, the company launched the Bois Bande' (BB) rum range, as the indigenous people were associated with the discovery of the use of the bark of the tree (Riicheria-Grandis) known locally as Bois Bande. In October 2010, the Rum Perforator and Soca were launched. Over Proof. and to this day, SOCA and BB are Dominica's most iconic spirits.
