Dominica leads the way on the road to recovery after new crown outbreak - reopens tourism industry
Dominica allows businesses and events to resume normal operations April 4
Commonwealth Dominica is one of the countries now fully open to tourism, with lush foliage, world-class diving, whale watching, hot springs, 365 rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails and three national parks.Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investments, Government of DominicaNew changes to the COVID-19 epidemic prevention restrictions were recently announced, under the new measures, the government announced that the 6-foot social distance has been lifted, public transportation is now in full operation, all schools, daycare centers are allowed to operate, all bars are allowed to return to normal operations, nightclubs are allowed, and all other restrictions have been lifted with the exception of mandatory masks that will remain in effect until May. Changes that will take effect on April 4 include:
- Restrictions on religious gatherings have been lifted and churches are no longer limited to a maximum attendance of 150 and can operate at full capacity.
- Public transportation is allowed to operate at full capacity.
- Restrictions on teaching establishments have been lifted. As of April 4, nurseries and kindergartens will reopen in accordance with the health protocols established for these institutions. Primary and secondary schools will resume full face-to-face learning for the third semester on April 25th. All other educational institutions will resume normal operations in accordance with their academic timetables.
- All bars are allowed to resume normal operations. Restrictions on music and parties have been lifted.
- Nightclubs were allowed to reopen to up to 300 patrons under strict health protocols.
- Restrictions on visits to prisons, hospitals and nursing homes have been lifted. The public should be aware that these institutions will have internal visitation policies based on health protocols and these policies should be strictly adhered to.

Cruise tourism open to fully vaccinated travelers
Acting Premier and Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment, Dr. Owen McIntyre said, "For the cruise sector, all vaccinated passengers will be allowed to disembark and travel freely in accordance with established cruise and travel protocols. Cruise sector staff, such as cab drivers, suppliers and tour guides, will be required to be vaccinated or present a negative 48-hour antigen test result and a Safe-In-Nature Pass."
